Arrival at Entebbe Airport and you will meet your guide waiting for you and will transfer you to your hotel to relax as you get ready for the safari the next day. While at the Hotel, you may opt for a city walk around Entebbe or Kampala Capital City, Transport will be provided.
You will begin your day early in the morning and then drive from Kampala to Lake Mburo to enjoy the zebra destination. We have a stopover at the equator and be able to take photos as well as experiments. After we shall continue driving past the town of Masaka. We shall reach the park and then drive out the large Savannah dotted with the acacia and shrubs as you will be viewing topis, zebras, warthogs, impalas, as well as buffalo. You will then check in at the lodge.
Wake up early for your nature walk in the park in order to visit the hyenas den, get a chance to view waterbucks, zebras, birds, buffalos with in their day break forest life! After the walk, get back to the lodge for breakfast before you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi as the target destination. This is a lake at 1800m above sea level in an area in the superb views and the small resident and the exotic bird species singing. This is the coolest area in Uganda below 10 C in some nights.
You will enjoy a free day along the lake with some activity options like swimming, canoeing, visiting the Islands. The other optional activity can be hiking the Bushara trail along the lake shores. Go back to the lodge and relax and in the afternoon, have a canoe ride to the small resident and the exotic bird species that sing. You can also mix with the locals or relax with the orphan performers.
Have a relaxed breakfast before we set of for the journey to Bwindi Forest, the home of the mountain gorillas. The drive takes you through the magical cultivated hills it’s a beautiful drive through the neck of the impenetrable forest and it gets you to a point of over 2650 meters above sea level. Have lunch along the way or at the lodge depending on time. Take a community walk in the village Ruhija to see how the people in the mountains live and how the Batwa people used to live in the forest. Then you can relax at the lodge in the evening taking in the views of the mountains and forest.
Early breakfast, which gets you ready for the exciting day. Arrive at the gorilla trekking starting point and set off for your big adventure to see the great giants of the misty mountains. You trek in a group with a specialized guide and get to spend one hour with the mountain gorillas. Besides the mountain gorillas this Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hog; forest Elephants, Statungas and Duikers. After the trek your guide picks you and start the journey to the lodge by Queen Elizabeth national park. The way takes you from the forest covered mountains, to cultivated hills, villages and on to the savanna of Ishasha part of Queen Elizabeth national park. Even though there is no game-drive this day there is good chances of spotting elephants, antelopes and if you are very lucky a lion or a leopard since the road goes through the park. Arrive at the lodge for a relaxed evening.
You will be able to adventure this national park in the morning with a morning game drive that will give you chance to see the big five animals including the elephants, big cats, lions, leopards, the other animals include; the warthogs, hyenas, waterbucks, hunchback, and many more animals that live in this park. There is also rich bird species most especially along the kazinga channel. At exactly 3pm, you will enjoy a boat cruise on kazinga channel, which is a 36 kms channel that links Lake George and Lake Edward. You will get chance of spotting the water and land hippos as they yawn and slashing the canines to each other. You will also view the Nile crocodiles that gasp along the banks, birds, African water elephants.
Have breakfast and then transfer to kyambura forest for chimp trekking. Within this tropical rain forest, there is a community of over 80 habituated chimps that live as well as the beautiful birds and the chimpanzees. You will go back to the lodge for lunch after the trek and then relax in the afternoon. You can also either relax at the lodge or go for a village walk in the area and enjoy the nearby Crater Lake.
Drive from Queen Elizabeth national park with the crater lakes area as the target. You will pass by the local markets and then drive through the crater areas. Check in at the lodge and then go for a walk that will give you beautiful views of the crater lake and also view the primates like the black and white colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkeys, colourful butterflies as well as the birds.
Assemble at Kanyankyu River camp at 0800hours to go for the most popular activity in this park which is Chimpanzee tracking. Chimpanzees are man’s closet cousins though they are one of the most threatened primate’s species. More primates like Black and white Columbus monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys, Grey checked Mangabey, Red tailed monkeys, bush babies, pottos and many bird species like the yellow spotted nicator, rumped tinker bird, Little greenbul, green breasted pitta, the crowned eagle, black bee eater and mammals like Elephants can be seen in this walk.
In the afternoon we visit a nearby forest swamp that is excellent for viewing primates and other forest animals. At the Eastern edge of Kibale forest is Bigodi Wetland sanctuary which is maintained by the local community. You will expect birds like the great Blue turaco, blue monkeys, baboons, otters, mongoose, bush bucks, bush pigs and among others.
Have breakfast and after start a long drive to Murchison falls national park. You will have lunch as you travel and on your arrival, you will check in at your lodge and relax after a long journey. During this Journey, you will have numerous stop overs for photography and stretching.
After breakfast head to the park in search for bird life and enjoy the game drive to look for lions, giraffes, herds of elephants, buffaloes and many more. We will drive back to the lodge for lunch before taking an afternoon boat cruise to the foot of Murchison Falls. This boat trip along the Nile is often cited as being the highlight of a trip to Murchison since it allows you to get up-close and personal with the animals. Along this stretch of the river, there are reported to be around 4,000 hippos in addition to some enormous Nile crocodiles. The bird life is stunning with brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks. If lucky, you may see the rare and prehistoric looking shoebill, which is a cross between the dodo and a dinosaur. The boat takes you to the base of the falls which only adds to their impressiveness.
Take a morning game-drive to explore the broad savanna for sights of big cats hunting, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, plus more as the checklist of mammals in Murchison Falls national park reaches 76. We continue browsing the circuits to the Delta point for a cocktail of Birds and mammals. After the game-drive we leave the park to make the journey to Zziwa rhino sanctuary where they are working on reintroducing rhinos to Uganda. Go trekking the rhinos in the evening or early morning next day depending on time and where the rhinos are.
You will leave Zziwa Rhino sanctuary and then head to Jinja. We shall have lunch along the way and on arrival, you will visit the source of the Nile and relax for the evening along the Nile. During this transfer, you also see the thick Mabira Forest, one of East Africa’s remaining tropical rain forest.
Day 15: Transfer back to Entebbe
Have breakfast and then transfer back to back to Entebbe making this the end of your safari. You will have lunch along the way and then the guide will either drop you at the airport or at your hotel in Entebbe.
